THE NURAGHE AND THE VILLAGE PRISGIONA

 

The Nuraghe La Prisgiona, located in the region of Capichera in Arzachena’s territory dominate and control  an area of several square kilometers. The size, the complexity of structure, the architectural expedients that have been made denounce the role of prominence within the territorial system which is applicable. This is a complex-type nuraghe, also called a tholos nuraghe with a false dome cover, rather unusual in Gallura. The monument has a central tower (the keep), and two side towers incorporated into a bastion. The keep has an entrance marked by a massive lintel of 3.20 m. The central chamber, covered with a false dome, is more than 6 meters high and has three niches placed as a cross.
